NABH Notification: Guidelines on Naming of Healthcare Organizations (HCOs)
The National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) has issued a directive to ensure that the names of Healthcare Organizations (HCOs) accurately reflect the services they provide.
Key Points:
HCO names must clearly communicate the nature of services available within the facility.
Misleading names suggesting specialized or super-specialty care must be avoided unless those services are actually and verifiably available.
Misrepresentation through the name of the facility is strongly discouraged and may lead to adverse decisions.
The name used in NABH applications must match the name on the registration certificate.
Purpose:
To maintain transparency, trust, and clarity for patients and the general public.
Action Required:
HCOs are requested to review and, if necessary, modify their current naming conventions to comply with these guidelines.

Objective of the Programme: The objective of this programme is to provide guidance to healthcare providers, healthcare administrators and Healthcare IT personnel on implementation of NABH standards
The aim of the programme is to develop Internal Counsellors within the hospitals for helping them to work towards implementation of Digital Health Standards for quality and patient safety, achieving accreditation and maintaining the same.

NABH GUIDEBOOK FOR CLIMATE ACTION AND SUSTAINABILITY IN HEALTHCARE
National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) has been developing quality healthcare standards . NABH standards have always focused on creating an ecosystem for quality and safety of the services delivered in the healthcare organizations.

Blood Centre Situated in Hospitalor Hospital Campus – Circular issued by CDSCO
CDSCO (Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation) has issued a Circular on 22nd May 2024 relating to the Blood Centre Situated in Hospital or Hospital Campus.
It is clarified that the Blood Centre run by the Hospital means the Blood centre situated in the Hospital premises. Application for grant / renewal of license for blood centre by a Hospital will be considered accordingly.
Further as per Provision under rules 122-G of the Drug Rules, 1945, applications for grant or renewal of license will be continued to be accepted by the State Drugs Department and the CDSCO for operation of Blood Centre or processing of Human Blood components run by Government, Indian Red Cross Society, Hospital, Charitable Trust or Voluntary Organisation.
GUIDELINES FOR INTER-DEPARTMENTAL REFERRALS (WITHIN HOSPITAL) 2024
Inter Departmental referral process is a crucial component of high quality comprehensive patient care in any Medical Institution. However there are inconsistencies and lack of accountability in the referral process. To address the various issues prevailing in the inter departmental referral process, Director General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has issued Guidelines for Inter-Departmental Referral within a hospital.
These guidelines provide a framework to various hospitals to improve patient care services, facilitate better communication and cooperation between departments, enhance working relationships and help develop accountability in a hospital.
Hospitals should develop their internal Standard Operating Procedures using the guidelines issued by the Directorate.

The National Health Authority (NHA) has announced a Digital Health Incentive Scheme (DHIS) for the stakeholders of the digital health ecosystem. The scheme aims to give a further boost to digital health transactions in the country under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). The incentives under this scheme would be provided to hospitals and diagnostic labs and also to the providers of digital health solutions such as Hospital/ Health Management Information System (HMIS) and Laboratory Management Information System (LMIS).
Under the DHIS, the eligible health facilities and digital solutions companies shall be able to earn financial incentives of up to Rs. 4 crores based on the number of digital health records they create and link to ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account). This incentive can be availed by the health facilities (hospitals and diagnostic labs) registered with ABDM’s Health Facility Registry (HFR) and fulfilling the eligibility criterion specified under the scheme.
Important points under ABDM’s Digital Health Incentive Scheme are:
Incentives would be provided to the following entities:
Health Facilities having 10 or more beds
Laboratory/radiology diagnostics centres
Digital Solution Companies (entities providing ABDM enabled digital solutions)
The incentives shall be provided on the basis of the number of ABHA-linked transactions i.e. the digital health records created and linked to ABHA.

For the ABHA linked transactions done by facilities not eligible for direct incentives (Clinics/ Small Hospitals/ Health Lockers/ Teleconsultation Platforms etc.), an incentive would be provided to Digital Solution Companies.
Cost Incentives for Digital solution (HMIS and LMIS) Companies
For every Transaction by hospitals/labs using their software and receiving incentives under this policy
25% of the corresponding incentive amount received by the eligible facilities
For other Transactions (including by health lockers, Teleconsultation platforms, small clinics etc.), provided the transactions are more than 200 per month
Rs. 5 per Transaction

LATEST NOTIFICATION FROM NABH ON IMPLEMENTATION PLAN OF 3RD EDITION OF NABH SHCO ACCREDITATION STANDARDS
Announcement from NABH
NABH has released a notification on implementation of 3rd Edition of NABH SHCO Accreditation Standards.
Key information from the notification is shared below :
The 3rd Edition of NABH SHCO Accreditation Standards along with the Guidebook has been released on 31st August 2022.
The effective date of Implementation of the third edition standards for SHCO would be as below:
a. All accredited SHCOs must be in full compliance with third edition by 1st March 2023 and shall submit the documentary compliance for the same by this date. The onsite compliance shall be verified during next on-site assessment (which can be either surveillance or renewal assessment).
b. All the assessments (Pre, Final, Renewal, Surveillance) shall be based on Third Edition w. e. f. 1st March 2023.
c. For all the assessments before 1st March, 2023, decision shall be based on Second Edition. However, such SHCOs would require to comply with the Third edition in next six months from the date of accreditation.
d. NABH will not accept any application (New as well as Renewal) on Second Edition Standard after 31st December 2022.
The whole process of transition will be completed 1st September 2024.
