NABH has released an important notice on January 4,2024 on Fee Remittance by all applicant / Accredited / Certified Health Care Organisations under all programs of NABH
Many Healthcare Organisations associated with NABH are still making direct payment to accounts of Quality Council of India – NABH. Due to this, NABH is facing difficulty in reconciling the amounts received directly as the details of payment are also not updated by the respective HCOs in their online portal.
To avoid unnecessary wastage of time and manpower in tracking the payments, NABH advises its stakeholders to make payments only through the online portal using the Payment Gateway so that the payments are appropriately tracked for convenience of all the parties
To facilitate the Healthcare Organisations to reconcile the fee payment status, NABH has requested all the HCOs to follow the below steps with immediate effect:
The HCOs are advised to login into their HCO account on the NABH portal for making payments through payment gateway via credit card/debit card/net banking.
In no case HCOs shall deposit cash/cheque/DD directly into any of the accounts of Quality Council of India.
In case the HCO has no other option but Bank Transfer (NEFT/RTGS), the payment shall be made after seeking approval from NABH secretariat. It shall be the responsibility of HCO to update the transaction details like Unique Transaction Reference (UTR) Number, Date of Transaction, Transaction Amount, etc on the NABH Portal under the Make Payment category and inform NABH that the Payment was done and get the receipts generated for the payments made.
The HCOs are also requested to ensure that the payment details with respect to fee payments of current and previous accreditation cycles have been updated on the NABH portal account of the HCO, if not done earlier.
Non updation of fee payment details on the portal may result into non-credit of the amounts and the HCO may be liable for adverse decision and repayment as per rules.
All HCOs are to ensure that no direct offline payments are made to any account of Quality Council of India (QCI)

Starting from the 2024-25 academic session, all medical colleges in the country, both private and public, will mandatorily be rated and ranked. The move follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the National Medical Commission (NMC) with the Quality Council of India (QCI) to rate medical institutions.
An MoU between the NMC, the medical education regulator, and the QCI was signed recently to this effect
For the first time, Indian medical colleges will get government ratings based on the quality of education they are offering to the students
The activity will be carried out under “Establishment of Medical Institutions, Assessment and Rating Regulations, 2023″ which states to conduct assessments and ratings of medical colleges under the government platform.
This comes in the backdrop of credibility issues faced by some private medical colleges, given that their ratings are done by private organizations.
Once the government ratings are in public domain, it will not only help students in choosing the right medical college but will also help in stemming the practice of private medical colleges from exploiting students by charging high fees.
The experts from NMC and QCI will carry out surprise inspection in the medical colleges to ascertain whether these colleges are following government regulations and offering quality education among other metrics.
“Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the NMC has signed a MoU with Quality Council of India (QCI) for the purpose of assessment of rating the medical colleges wherein QCI will provide third party assessment of both private and government medical colleges,” said the official aware of the matter.
This collaboration will ensure the highest quality medical education and services offered by the medical colleges. This is for the first time, there will be an assessment process of medical colleges to rank them which aims to bring transparency, accountability, and adherence to high standards in the medical education ecosystem,” said the official.
MARB is responsible for carrying out inspections for granting permission for establishment of new medical college, increase of MBBS/PG/Super-speciality seats, renewal of permission for existing medical colleges, carries of surprise inspection in the medical colleges from time to time.
Since 2014, there has been a significant increase in the number of medical colleges in the country. According to the government figures, there has been a 70% increase in the number of medical colleges, from 387 before 2014 to 704 as of now.
